Partha Kar shares why Freedom to Speak Up is so important to him, both personally and professionally, not just speaking up about patient safety, but also for colleagues. He considers the barriers to speaking up, and offers some ideas for how to remove those barriers yourself.

 

Professor Partha Kar is Consultant in Diabetes and Endocrinology at Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust, national specialty adviser, diabetes with NHS England and is author of the MWRES Action Plan to tackle racism in the medical workforce.
