In response to Lord Darzi’s Independent investigation of the National Health Service in England, Dr Jayne Chidgey-Clark said:

“Lord Darzi’s diagnosis of the NHS chimes with the feedback we have heard from Freedom to Speak Up guardians.

“The people who work in the NHS are passionate about delivering great care, but for too long they have been speaking up about systemic issues – infrastructure, resources, equipment, staffing –  but feeling that nothing is changing as a result.

“Lord Darzi identifies the cultural challenges in the NHS, and has – with candour – identified what is needed to learn and improve. I welcome the Prime Minister’s response that the Ten-Year Plan for the NHS will built on the voices of patients and workers.”
