Woman looking at speech bubbles

Freedom to Speak Up Guardians come from a wide range of professional backgrounds and bring with them a host of skills and competencies. The National Guardian’s Office provides training and support for you as you develop in your role.

The NGO holds regular webinars for guardians on topical issues to share learning and provoke discussion. Please check the fortnightly bulletin for details.

You will also find case studies here which share other organisations’ learning and may provide you with ideas for improvement.

We produce guidance documents to help you understand the practical elements of your role.

Freedom to Speak Up Guardian Development Guide

The Education and Training Guide has been refreshed and renamed the Development Guide.

This update takes into consideration the growing network of Freedom to Speak Up guardians who work in an increasingly diverse range of settings.  The focus of this refreshed guide is guardians’ personal growth and development of skills, including updated resources and information on inclusivity and psychological safety.

In order to help Freedom to Speak Up guardians build upon their existing skills and experience, this update includes an online self-assessment tool to be used in conjunction with the Development Guide. This will support guardians in identifying ongoing learning and areas for development.
